A visit to one of the nation’s most outstanding collections in private hands. Over 100,000 pieces of art and history gathered and preserved from around the world.
The Pamplin Collection is one of the world’s largest gatherings of art and history in private hands – a collection that, in sheer volume and breadth—and like important collections elsewhere—could never be re-created.
Over the past 40 years, Dr. Robert Pamplin and his wife Marilyn have intentionally and carefully brought together more than 100,000 historical artifacts and distinguished artworks characterized by their originality and historical significance. Objects have been authenticated and valuations have been established when compared to auctioned items internationally. By this process, we have established a total market value of objects and their storage and interpretive facilities in excess of one billion dollars. In essence, however, the Pamplin Collection is priceless – the one-of-a-kind nature of so many pieces and the fact that they are held in a single collection make the entire assemblage absolutely irreplaceable.
